8月29日、ブロック・モータム選手の2022-23シーズンの新規入団会見を実施いたしましたのでご報告いたします。

“This is my first time to play here in Japan. I am really glad that I was able to come to Japan and look forward to playing in B.LEAGUE.
I heard of good things about Japan, so I was interested in both Japan and B.LEAGUE. I wanted to come to Japan to play, got an offer from the team, and decided to come to play for the Levanga Hokkaido.
I will practice hard every day and try to be better towards the season opening game.
My strength as a player is that I am a stretch four, doing everything inside and outside and making 3-pointers. In addition, by having had a lot of experience, I can read the game and play hard. I have accomplished and won some titles through my career, which can be my strength as well, so I will try to help the team win with everything that I can give.”
「日本でのプレーは初めてになりますが、日本に来ることができて非常にうれしく思っていますし、またBリーグでプレーすることを楽しみに思っています。
日本について良い話を沢山聞いていましたので、日本、そしてBリーグに興味がありました。
その中で自分の力を試してみたいと考えていましたので、今回声をかけていただき、レバンガ北海道への移籍を決断しました。
これから練習を重ねていき、開幕に向けて前に進んでいきたいと思います。
自分の特徴としては、ストレッチ4と言われるような、インサイド・アウトサイド、3Pシュートを含めた、プレーの幅の広さであると思っています。また、これまで経験を積み重ねてきたことで、ゲームを読むことができる点、また、ハードにプレーすることもできますし、タイトルを獲得してきた経験値なども強みであると思いますし、その全てでこのチームに貢献していきたいと思っています。」
■スタッツ面の目標について
“It is not only for this season, but I am trying to be efficient as possible, 90% FT, 50% FG, and 40% 3PT, always as a goal, but I always try to make every shoot. I will also try to more help the team win than think about my stats, so I will do everything that I can do for the team.”
「今シーズンに限った話ではありませんが、毎シーズンの目標として、フリースローを90％以上、フィールドゴールを50％以上、３Pシュートを40％以上としています。もちろん打つからにはすべてのシュートを決めていくという考えで臨んでいます。
ただ、数字よりも、チームの勝利に貢献していきたいと考えていますし、そのために自分のできることをすべてやっていきたいと思っています。」
■休日の過ごし方について
“I have a 2-year-old son, and the time goes quick as I chase after him. We go to a park to make myself feel refreshed.
I like Japanese and Italian food, so if you have any recommendations for restaurants, please let me know.”
「2歳になる息子がいるので、追いかけっこをしていたら時間が過ぎてしまいます。家族で公園などに行くこともリフレッシュする方法のひとつです。
和食とイタリアンが好きなので、札幌でおすすめのレストランがあればぜひ教えていただけると嬉しいです。」

「モータム選手は、オーストラリア代表としてリオ五輪やW杯に出場した経験もあり、ユーロリーグに出場するようなヨーロッパの強豪チームで活躍していました。
オフェンスでのスキルが高く、高確率な3Pシュートをはじめとした得点能力、トランジションの場面、またボールを持っていないところでのスペースの読みなど、特に得点の面でチームに貢献してくれると期待しています。
ディフェンス面でもハッスルする選手ですし、総合的にバスケットIQの高い選手ですので、これまで培った優勝経験などを生かして、多くのことを若手選手も多いチームに伝えていってもらいたいです。
また、日本でのプレーが初めてとなりますので、これからチームに合流し、いち早く日本のバスケットボールに慣れて、力を発揮してもらいたいと思っています。」
“Brock Motum had experience to play in the Olympic Game in Rio and the World Cup to represent Australia. He also played for strong teams in Europe that participated in the Euro League.
Motum has great offensive skills that are the abilities to make 3-pointers with a high percentage and to read spaces in transitions and when he does not have a ball as well. We expect that he will help with team win especially in offense.
He is a hustle player in defense and has a high IQ in general, so we would like him to teach a team with many young players a lot of things with his experience that won the championships.
Lastly, this is his first time to play in Japan, so we want him to join the team, get used to Japanese basketball as quickly as possible, and show his abilities.”
